FC Barcelona players played in the high spirits since the start of the game. The sudden runs in the space and long passes were evidence of the moral of the Catala club. They wanted a win at any cost and, perhaps, 4 players of the squad missed the FIFA Gala in Zurich to train with the team for the fixture. In the 25th minute of the first half, Luis Suarez netted the ball with the help of an incredible run and pass from Neymar. But the goal was disallowed and Neymar was declared offside. The offside was a close one and the decision might not be correct for every spectator. Even though this was the first breakthrough for Barcelona in the game and it was disallowed, the 2 times treble winner didn’t lose hope and kept fighting to turn the tables around.
In the 36th minute of the game, Neymar made a similar run as before and provided a cross to Luis Suarez. Suarez finished the move with a scissors kick and leveled the score on aggregate. The next goal came in the 46th minute when Neymar was brought down in the penalty area. Messi and Suarez, both are in a race with others for becoming the top goal scorer of the season, gave the penalty to Neymar so that he could end his goal drought. Just 5 minutes later, Saborit scored for Athletic Bilbao and made the aggregate score 3-3. The moment of the game came in the 77th minute when Messi scored a free-kick goal and won the fixture for his club. It was his 3rd free-kick goal in 3 games in 2017.
