It’s FC Barcelona who have progressed to the Champions league quarter-finals, eliminating PSG. After the previous loss against PSG in the first leg of the draw, Barcelona was destroyed in Paris and was humiliated 4-0. A slight hope dwelt in FC Barcelona’s fans’ and players’ hearts to turn around the result. The Catalans started the game in high spirit as Luis Suarez scored a goal within 3 minutes of the kick-off. The second goal of the game came through Andres Iniesta’s footwork which eventually ended up as an own goal by Kurzawa. FC Barcelona went into the first half with a 2 goal lead on the night and 4-2 on aggregate.
The best part of the game came in the second half. In the 48th minute, Neymar was brought down in the penalty box by Thomas Meunier. Leo Messi scored from the spot and further shortened PSG’s lead. In a surprising turn of events, Edinson Cavani scored a goal in the 62nd minute of the game. This was a crucial away goal for PSG. And 3 more goals from Barcelona in less than 30 minutes seemed almost impossible. But Neymar rescued FC Barcelona. He scored a free-kick 87th minute and scored a penalty in the 90th minute. PSG still had the lead due to the away goal rule. But the substitute Sergi Roberto completed the comeback by scoring in the 97th minute from a cross by Neymar. No other team has ever recovered from a 4-0 down position in UEFA Champions league. This part of history has been written and will most probably be broken by FC Barcelona again as similar happened when Barcelona humiliated AC Milan 4-0 at the Camp Nou in 2013.
