It is early in the season but Barcelona are already looking like potential champions. Last night’s display was an exact proof of that. Real Betis and Barca may be enormously mismatched but you never know what might turn out in a La Liga game. Last night, however, there was no surprise as Barca secured an easy victory. Suarez scored a hat-trick while Messi scored Twice in an Open La Liga Match – Barcelona Vs Real Betis. Lionel Messi shined yet again with an all-round performance.
Barca Start without Crucial Players!
Barca started without some key players such as Neymar, Mascherano and Iniesta. Despite this, they did not seem weakened at all. Turan opened the scoring for the Catalans. Messi provided a beautiful long ball into the penalty area which was immediately passed to Arda Turan who placed it into the net easily. Barca looked truly comfortable. Leo was proving yet again as truly effective driver of the team.
Ruben Castro equalized in the 21st minute. It was a truly ballistic free-kick that was beyond saving. Ruben Castro has been on a scintillating run and it would be interesting to watch his progress. Next, it was Leo Messi’s turn to strike who found the net from outside the box. He looked dangerous from the start and the defenders’ mistake was enough. It is often said by football technicians that spaces must be closed out against Messi. Betis did the exact opposite and it cost them. 4 minutes later, Suarez found the net from a brilliant cross.
After the half time, the Catalans looked even more dangerous. In the 56th minute, Suarez scored his second. The build-up was dominated by Leo who carried the ball and made a brilliant run. He eventually made the assist to Suarez for whom it was a simple finish. It was counter-attacking football mixed with some fine tiki-taka. It was noticeable that Messi had found his pace again. He was taking on defenders and giving them a tough time.
Betis Commit the Same Mistake Again!
The very next minute, Barca were at it again. Leo got his second for the night. It was a typical Messi goal, a fine run followed by top-class placement. Once again, Betis defense failed to close down spaces and had to ultimately pay the price. Leo’s scintillating run was just too much for them to handle.
Suarez finished his hat-trick with a goal from free-kick in the 82nd minute. The former Liverpool striker was on a stunning run of form. No Betis defender was any match for the South-American and it was a well-deserved hat-trick.
In the 84th minute, Ruben Castro found the net for his team, but it was too little too late.
A Good Day for South Americans!
Overall, Leo and Suarez shined. The victory must be a relief to many. Such a fine form is a sign for great things to come. Messi’s brilliant performance would shut up the critics who felt Leo was off his game. The victory would also boost Leo’s moral after a summer full of drama. One can be sure that with Messi and Cristiano both in top form, this season will surely be one to watch.
