Surprisingly, none from the MSN could make it to UEFA best player in Europe final 3. Although they had a great season with Barcelona winning a domestic double and scoring the most number of goals. Among the 3 finalists, Griezmann was the most deserving one who destroyed big teams like Bayern, Barcelona, Germany etc. But unfortunately lost the Champions League and Euro Cup final. While Cristiano scored most of his goals against teams like Shakhtar, Malmo, Hungry etc. And was almost invisible in the finals and important games against big teams. Griezmann was by far the most deserving player but football is not fair sometimes. Even though Leo wasn’t even invited to the Gala, but he won his 2nd consecutive UEFA Best goal of the year award.
Lionel Messi’s magical goal against Bayern Munich in 2014/15 UCL semi-final was awarded as the season’s best goal. He replied to Manuel Neuer’s challenge in an extraordinary way by chipping the ball over his head. His goal was the most tweeted event on twitter and the world went crazy over his piece of skill. He was also awarded as the UEFA best player in Europe for 2014/15 season.
Leo Messi missed out the best player trophy but won the best goal award. His goal against AS Roma in the group stages was the most voted one. He won the award by 34% of the total votes receiving 73331 votes. The extraordinary goal was a team effort with 27 passes before the final strike. The jaw-dropping tiki-taka between Messi Suarez and Neymar and Messi’s chip over the goalkeeper finished it off.
The other finalists were Saul Nigez, Shaqi1ri and Portugal’s futsal player Ricardinho who also displayed mesmerizing skills but couldn’t win. Ricardinho remained the runner-up with the 2nd most number of votes.
