The spectacular Champions League game at Etihad Stadium last night ended up as a disappointment for Barcelona and their fans. Manchester City beats Barcelona and it was the 3rd defeat of the Catalans since the start of this season. The game was supposed to be a tense one, full of tactics. It was Guardiola who outdone Enrique with a high pressing game. Barcelona dictated the first half of the game dominating possession and creating chances at will and skill. Lionel Messi scored the first goal of the game through a pass from Neymar. Just when everyone thought that Barcelona would be victorious here as well, Ilkay Gundogan scored an equalizer. At this point, Manchester City took charge of the game and scored 2 more in the second half. This comeback leaves a question for Barcelona. Is it injuries due to which Barcelona lost? Or it was Guardiola’s tactics?
Apparently, the half-time talks changed the game. Manchester City pressed Barcelona midfielders and cut the supply from midfield to the front 3. The attack shattered and MSN seemed helpless as they were unable to receive the ball. The high pressing caused Barcelona players to slip and lose the ball very cheaply. And so it was easy for City to score counter attacking goals. Andre Gomez missed a clear chance that could have re-installed the confidence in the Barcelona players. Sergio Busquets was very poor on the night and doesn’t seem to be the same guy who bossed the midfield every game. Rakitic was the one in the form on the night but his substitution resulted in devastating results. Arda Turan doesn’t seem to provide the stability required against Manchester City’s pressing. The defense was also weak. The main center back Gerrard Pique is out due to injury.

Several sources reported that one of the city players insulted Lionel Messi at the end of the game. He responded by calling him “stupid”. Lionel Messi went to City’s dressing room in search of the player. Sergio Aguero was the one to calm Leo down.
