Real Madrid won the UEFA Champions League earlier this year by knocking out Atletico Madrid in the final. Later in the start of the current season, Zinedine Zidane won the UEFA Super Cup against Seville. This guaranteed their participation in FIFA Club World competition. On thursday 15th december, Real Madrid won the sem-final of the competition against the Mexican team Club America. The game ended with the Spanish side scoring 2 goals and conceeding zero. On Sunday 18th December between Real Madrid and Kashima Antlers. The game ended in the favour of Cristiano Ronaldo and co. Real Madrid conceeded 2 goals and scored 4 making the socre-line 4-2 on the final whistle.
